Longest Travel Day To Date ;)

Here we are at the airport getting ready for our day full of flights! We flew from Jacksonville to Charlotte to Philly and finally to Zurich the following morning at 8:30 Swizz time...

Once we got to Zurich we had to figure out how to get from the airport to Chamonix, France where our other hiking buddy, Kyle, had been for a couple of days. After buying a camping stove and getting advice from a bunch of different people on the train platform over the course of an hour or two we were finally on our way!!

Here we are relaxing on the train that took us up to Chamonix... though work was being done on the tracks farther up so we were not able take the train all of the way there. We knew ahead of time that we were going to have to catch a bus but when we got there there was a bus schedule that made it look like the bus had stopped running the week before (just like us to decide to hike the TMB when most everything is closed with the season being over). Anyway after waiting for about an hour with to two French mountain bikers they ended up biking up the road leaving us thinking we were going to have to hitchhike our way to Chamonix. Luckily, this did not end up happening and the bus came about 45 minutes later :)

Chamonix is a beautiful town nestled within the French Alps. A lot of tourists come here and the people that live here seem to all have a passion for some type of extreme sport, such as mountain biking, skiing, alpining or parasailing.

Once we got to Chamonix we had no way of meeting up with Kyle so we wondered around for a while to find internet. Until we found a place with WiFi we stopped at a grocery store to get bread and cheese, which we unknowingly paid for with Swizz francs... silly americans going to an ATM in Zurich expecting Swizterland to be using the Euro, then using the francs we got to pay for bread and cheese and wondering why the cashier was looking at us funny..
